Oak Creek, founded by Terry Carson and Cole Smith over 20 years ago, was the first Bay Area community to focus specifically on caring for people with forgetfulness (what others call dementia or Alzheimer's disease). Today, this Castro Valley community continues to break new ground as it teams up with AgeSong to integrate a unique humanistic approach into its rich history of care. AgeSong at Oak Creek offers residents the calming and healing aspects of nature through its large backyard aviary, patio, and flower and vegetable gardens while participating in programs that integrate the best care within a supportive and therapeutic environment.
Our individual services and specialized programs are based on over 20 years of elder care research combined with genuine compassion and a vision to change the view of aging. AgeSong at Oak Creek accepts people for who they are, not a labeled diagnosis. Symptoms and behaviors are viewed as forms of communication to be understood and used to help us develop programs that meet individual needs.
In addition to being part of the AgeSong family of communities, AgeSong at Oak Creek continues to be part of the Creek communities.
